
About Me

Kayla J. Jones is a Public Historian with specializations in U.S. labor history, museum studies, and civic education.
​
After receiving her B.S. in History from East Tennessee State University in 2019, Kayla began an internship assisting with the educational programming at the Asheville Art Museum in Asheville, North Carolina. She also worked at Tipton-Haynes State Historic Site in Johnson City, Tennessee as an AmeriCorps Service Member from 2020 to 2021. Her duties included leading tours as a historic interpreter, assisting with public programming, and leading a month-long history day camp in the summer of 2020.

Kayla began pursuing her masters degree at Middle Tennessee State University in the fall of 2021. At MTSU, she served in an assistantship managing a campus organization dedicated to promoting civic engagement. She also completed an internship in the summer of 2022 with the Tennessee Historical Society, sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities.

For her focus, Kayla chose Museum Studies because she is passionate about public learning and creating equitable access to educational resources.

She currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee with her husband, their dog, and two cats.
